Weather - Fine partially - cloudy & 23C
Seas - Slight to Moderate
Last night we were instructed to put our clocks forward 1 hour, which we did & consequently we were still in bed when room service arrived with our coffee & juice just after 7.30am. I just hid under the covers when they brought the tray in, luckily Mike dived out of bed and made himself respectable before opening the door!
Today is the first of 2 sea days followed by a day of cruising Milford Sound, so not a lot of land around. I enjoy the sea days as they are very relaxing with as many or few activities as we wish to keep us entertained. We didn't finish Breakfast until almost 10am, then went for a walk to check out the activities and and watch/jewellery sales. They have some really beautiful things and most are out of our price range. I asked about one watch which looked quite ordinary, to discover it was almost $3,000. However they do have some beautiful Guess, CItizen etc for reasonable prices. The perfumes are definitely at duty free prices, better than any I have found in Australia, both in discount perfumeries or online. My all time favourite (Chanel No 5) is around $100/100ml. Might have to drop some hints :)
The seas have become a little more choppy as the day goes on .... not a bad thing as I enjoy it like that. This ship is so large it would take mucho worse than this to make it rock. You just need to walk with your feet a little further apart to give yourself more stability. I am guessing as we near NZ it will get a little rougher.
We have an appointment with NZ customs at 1pm to be screened for entry into the country. Just some paperwork to complete first. I think we will pass muster!
I have just had my ship card (works as room key and charge card for purchases) re magnetised for the 2nd time. Apparently cameras, mobile phones, iPads etc kept in close proximity case the cards to de magnetise. After the first time I have been careful, however forgot I had a magnetic necklace on yesterday and of course when I tried to open our stateroom door this am it didn't work. Luckily I usually keep Mike handy so his always works.
We decided on a light, late lunch today and didn't leave the dining room until 2.45pm. We had booked another wine tasting at 3pm so it fitted in well. Today's wine list was more affordable with 5 different wines from Australia, France, US & Chile. We have a great Wine Sommelier from South Africa onboard so we are learning lots & tasting even more!
After the wine tasting it was back to our stateroom for a wee nap (drinking in the afternoon does that) then we changed and went to the production show, "You Can't Stop The Music" at 7pm. Very entertaining show with 4 singers and lots of dancers. We then headed to the Savoy Dining Room for dinner. More great seafood (crab & prawns) and a glass or two of a nice German Riesling made for a lovely dinner.
One of our favourite entertainers, Dan Hodge, was playing & singing again in the Crooners Lounge at 9pm so we spent an enjoyable 2 hours listening to him sing, play piano & keyboard as well as tell stories about the songs he was singing. Tonight is was mainly the 50's so lots of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Gerry Lewis, Patsy Cline etc. He also takes requests and interacts well with the audience. So much fun for us old timers :) We also enjoyed a martini (I love the 24K Gold).
Another late night made worse by the fact we had to put our clocks forward 1 hour again tonight. We are so far South it was still quite light at 10pm. So I will say goodnight!
