Monday December 24th - Part 3
After a lovely day in Wellington we waited for the other sip in port (Costa Romantica) to leave before we sailed at approx. 6pm. I have added some photos of the tug boats pulling her out from behind The Diamond Princess. The sun was still shining as we left, however once clear of the harbour it turned cold & began to rain.
We went down for dinner around 7.15 and were seated with another nice (but more conservative) group than the previous night. More great food (I had twice baked goats cheese soufflé for entree & scallops in a delicate citrus sauce for main). We had already had cider & wine on our balcony (see photos of our wine & cider stash) so decided to refrain from drinking with dinner. We then moved to the Crooners Lounge where Dan sang, with audience participation, Christmas Carols. Our singing improved with the help of some scotch and a large martini.
To end the night we decided to check out the portraits which were taken on formal night a couple of days ago. They were better than expected, with really good ones of Mike. We have had several photos taken & have decided to wait until the last day or so & pick the best. They charge between $20 & $30 for one photo (8x10) in a cardboard frame so we won't be buying every single photo they took.
Back in our room I just read tomorrows Princess Patter & they have promised that Santa will arrive onboard Christmas morning. Phew .... That is a relief because I was worried we would miss out! Maybe I should leave my stocking out after all.
I have also included a photo of the Inter-islander Ferry which runs regularly between Picton in the South Island to Wellington.
Well off to bed for me (Mike is already sound asleep). Will be a first sleeping in on Christmas Day!
